Position Overview
The Facilities Maintenance/Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, safety, functionality, and operational readiness of Meadowlark Lodge's grounds, facilities, equipment, and guest amenities. This position combines landscaping and grounds maintenance responsibilities with building, systems, and preventative maintenance duties to help provide an exceptional guest experience.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional who takes pride in maintaining both the property and facilities, enjoys working in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, and is committed to delivering quality workmanship and exceptional service.
Maintenance Responsibilities:
- Perform general building maintenance and repair work, including drywall, painting, carpentry, woodwork, and basic construction tasks
- Complete preventative maintenance and routine inspections of resort facilities and equipment
- Perform repairs and maintenance involving plumbing systems, including fixtures, drains, pipes, disposals, and related components.
- Assist with maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and building systems
- Inspect buildings, infrastructure, and equipment to identify deficiencies, maintenance needs, and safety concerns
- Report maintenance issues and safety hazards to management and recommend corrective actions
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest and employee maintenance requests
- Assist with seasonal opening, closing, and operational readiness projects
- Maintain maintenance equipment, tools, and machinery, ensuring safe operation and proper care
- Support emergency repairs and after-hours maintenance needs as required
Grounds Keeping Responsibilities:
- Maintain resort grounds on a daily basis, including landscaping and general grounds upkeep
- Keep roadways, parking lots, loading/unloading areas, sidewalks, trails, and outdoor guest spaces clean and free of litter, debris, and hazards
- Empty, clean, and maintain trash collection and storage areas
- Monitor grounds conditions and address issues affecting guest safety, appearance, or accessibility
- Perform seasonal property maintenance, including snow removal and general grounds beautification
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, power tools, utility vehicles, snow blowers, plows, and other groundskeeping machinery
- Cut, split, stack, and maintain firewood supplies
- Maintain outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, seating areas, and other outdoor guest amenities
Resort Operations Support:
- Assist Assistant General Managers and other operational departments as needed
- Cross-train and support Housekeeping, Front Desk, Maintenance, and other departments during peak operational periods
- Assist with guest arrivals, departures, and other resort support functions when necessary
- Maintain a positive, service-oriented attitude while interacting with guests, vendors, and team members
- Contribute to a safe, professional, and team-focused work environment.

- Previous resort, hospitality, maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping, or property management experience is preferred
Requirements:
- Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record
- Three to five years of maintenance, facilities, landscaping, groundskeeping, or related experience preferred
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general building systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance techniques
- Ability to diagnose problems and address maintenance issues before they become emergencies
- Proficiency operating hand tools, power tools, landscaping equipment, maintenance equipment, and commercial machinery
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, seasonal shifts, and on-call assignments as needed
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, crouch, and perform physical labor throughout the workday
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in elevated, confined, or difficult-access spaces when necessary
- Ability to safely operate equipment and perform manual labor for extended periods
